Your baby can see no more than a few centimeters from his face, you are the apple of their eye.

Your baby depends on his innate senses such as sight, touch, smell, taste, or hearing to recognize things around him.

From the time you pick your baby up, swaddle him and put him to sleep, he begins to understand the pattern.

In this article, I will be sharing pointers your baby miss you when you are not around and how you can help him feel more secure when you are not around.

No need to worry.

You notice that your calm and happy baby turn fussy soon as you leave the room.

At initial stage of development, your baby does not instantly sense it when you are not around.

As your baby grows older, he cries and gets all fussy because he start feeling a huge void when he does not have you around.

As your baby’s senses develop, he tends to miss you more. He starts having separation anxiety and like the sense of security that you can provide him.

Grow up phase.

It is natural that your baby missing you in your absence.

As your baby grows older, he starts understanding the difference between you leaving for a short time or extended hours.

He sees you walk out of the room, cannot hear you or feel your touch after a while.

This phase will eventually fade away.

Your baby will get used to this after some time. You will start noticing a shift in his behaviour especially in the first year.

Once you have regular visitors, you will see your baby transition into someone who loves spending time with others, but on some days, you are all your baby will need. If you are not around, your baby cries as he misses you.

If your baby misses you and brings the house down, find alternative ways to help your baby feel safe in your absence.

Plan play dates with other babies, take him for walks and introduce him to more people, and most importantly, be there to see how it goes!

This will give your baby the strength to interact with new people when you have somewhere else to be.

How can you help your baby feel more secure when you are not around?

Keep calm when you try to console your baby.

No matter how your baby reacts when you return, do not let the signs of stress or anxiety be seen.

Your baby will pick up on your mood, and it will make him more upset.

Boost your baby’s confidence.

Before leaving the room and back to the room, comfort your baby that everything will be fine.

As time pass, your baby will start responding positively.

Give your baby some space.

Your baby needs to learn to live without you by his side 24/7.

Leave the room and notice the reactions.

This helps your baby to cope and get comfortable with you not around.

Be strong.

If you do not tend to stay away for a short while because you are worried your baby will miss you, your baby will take more time to get used to you stepping away for whenever needed.

Pamper your baby once you get back.

Shower your baby with all your love and attention like cuddling when you are back.

I hope all these pointers will help your baby feel more secure when you are not around.
